American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) Fire Protection Grant (FPG)
Last December, we applied for the MO Dept of Public Safety SFY 2023 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) Fire Protection Grant (FPG) requesting 4 sets of Bunker Gear, 4 Sets of Boots, 4 Carbon Hoods (AKA Nomex hoods) and 4 Helmets (2 White and 2 Red) at a quote (estimate) in the amount of $10,055.90. This grant is a 50/50 award (aka Buy One Get One Free)
March 3, 2023 we received notification that our application had been accepted for funding.
“Your application has been selected for funding in the amount of $5,027.95. As a condition of the award, you are required to contribute a cost match in the amount of $5,027.95 of non-Federal funds, or fifty (50) percent of the total approved project costs of $10,055.90. Please note, total projects costs may exceed the amount listed in this letter as the maximum amount of cost match required to receive the maximum award is $20,000.00.”
We started our process, awaited shipment and last night, 12/13/23, we issued and placed the gear in service.
Grants help Fire Departments to update gear, equipment and many other things at a minimal dollar amount per population. An Estimated example for this grant at $10,055.90 that is approximately $.57 per person in the district (census population of 1850 people) to obtain this new gear.
